Abstract: In this short series of classes, I will introduce recent research on formalizing reasoning about knowledge and belief among socially connected agents. This includes such topics as the diffusion of belief across communities, gossip and social announcements, gestures, tweets and various social pathologies such as information cascades, pluralistic ignorance and the bystander effect. This is not a lecture series, in that I will adapt the class to suit the audience, introducing relevant background material along the way.
