Practical Info

  • Visas
    • Citizens of most countries need a visa to visit mainland China.
    • Please contact your nearest Chinese embassy or consulate to ask for information or apply for a visa.
    • We recommend you to apply for a TOURIST VISA, for the convenience of both you and us.
  • Invitation letter
    • If you do need a letter for attending EASLLC 2014, please send an email to easllc2014@gmail.com.
    • If a scanned copy of an invitation letter is accepted, it will be send to you through email.
    • It is our policy that an invitation letter can be sent out or faxed only to those people who have registered.
  • Currency and Banking
    • The currency of China is Renminbi (RMB) (sign: ¥ ; code: CNY). The principal unit of RMB is yuan.
    • 1 yuan (元) = 10 jiao (角) = 100 fen (分, cents).

    • ATM machines with “VISA” or “MasterCard” signs can be found easily at the airport and in the city.
    • We remind you that you might need to allow card use in the Asian region from your own bank.
  • Drinking Water
    • Tap water in China is not suitable for drinking.
    • Water dispensers or water kettles are usually equipped in a hotel.
    • Drinking water is served for free in a restaurant.
    • Bottled water is sold in most convenience stores.
  • Electricity
    • Voltage and frequency of the power supply in mainland China is 220V, 50Hz.
